Description:

Rated as: Very Good.  Very nice National Park Camp Ground. All roads and sites are asphalt. Sites are level, well laid out, lots of trees, private and good sized. There is a combination of flush and pit toilets conveniently scattered throughout the camp ground. Water available at flush toilets. Showers are available at the check in office, $4.50 for ten minutes. Showers are well used, thus not very clean. Must be cleaned only once a day, when they close at 8:30 pm. Free water and dump station near check in office. ATT and Verizon work well. MAKE RESERVATIONS far in advance for CG and shuttle bus – period.  I made mine 3 – 4 months ahead, could not get the first shuttle bus request and the last 4 seats on the second request. We saw several people turned away during CG check in. You cannot “boon dock” in the park. Rated as: Very Good, would stay there again.

Other Notes :

  • Located next to bus tour pickup and visitor center. Walking trails leading from camp ground to visitor center.
  • For park tours, used the green shuttle bus at $60 per person. It’s a 12 hour ride in and back out without unscheduled stops. Shuttle bus drivers are knowledgeable and friendly. The ranger lead tour bus is $200 per person.
  • Do the full 90 mile shuttle. We would not have seen grizzlies, caribou, or foxes on the shorter tour.
  • Check out the Teklanika CG is inside the park for a more “remote” park experience. However, there is no cell phone signal and are some length restrictions.
