Rated as: Average. Tara Winery is a winery, vineyard, Inn, and restaurant. It is located 2 miles off the main highway and eight miles out of Athens, TX. They have two sites that are level gravel and a couple more in a grass field. When checking in at the restaurant we received a wine list and food menu. Typically, we like to eat at the location, but this was WAY out of our budget. A single steak dinner runs $45 – $55. We participated in wine tasting, which was required when you sign up to stay. The wine was good, not great, but again very pricey. Tara Winery sees itself as a high end, premium venue. The parking sites are directly below the outdoor patio of the restaurant. They had music and good times until late at night. As a result, if you like to go to bed early or have a limited budget, this is not the place to stay. We would not stay there again. Rated as: Average.
